Procigar

Procigar (Asociación de Productores de Cigarros de la República Dominicana) is a non-profit trade organization that represents the interests of the Dominican Republic's premium cigar industry. The association brings together cigar manufacturers, tobacco growers, exporters, and related businesses involved in the production of handmade premium cigars.

The organization was established to:

• Promote Dominican premium cigars in international markets.

• Protect and enhance the reputation of Dominican tobacco.

• Support tobacco agriculture and sustainable farming practices.

• Encourage cooperation among manufacturers and growers.

• Educate consumers, retailers, distributors, and media about Dominican cigar production.

• Advocate for the industry before government agencies and international organizations.

Procigar is best known internationally for organizing the annual Procigar Festival, one of the most important cigar events in the world. During the festival, cigar enthusiasts, retailers, distributors, journalists, and industry professionals visit tobacco farms, factories, and lounges throughout the Dominican Republic. Participants gain behind-the-scenes access to tobacco cultivation, fermentation, aging, cigar rolling, and blending processes while meeting factory owners and master blenders.

The association's membership includes many of the Dominican Republic's most recognized cigar companies, including manufacturers such as La Aurora, General Cigar Dominicana, Tabacalera de García, Quesada Cigars, Tabacalera Palma, La Flor Dominicana, and other leading producers.

Today, Procigar serves as the principal voice of the Dominican premium cigar sector, helping maintain the country's position as the world's largest exporter of premium handmade cigars and a global center of tobacco expertise. The organization plays a significant role in preserving cigar-making traditions while promoting innovation, education, tourism, and international trade within the industry.
